Emerich Meerson creates with passion

Emerich Meerson, french designer and painter born in Germany, lives and works in Paris
.

It's hard to classify Emerich Meerson in a particular school or trend, because of his abundant creativity and his constant pursuit
of plastic expression. His Individuality is strong and recognisable in all his work, which is, first and always, full of emotion.

To look at one of his drawings, one of his paintings, one of his sculptures, always inspires questions, feelings, and reflection.

Emerich Meerson's work is never demonstrative; it's evocative.
That's because the artist inspired by childhood, family, love, faith, always looks for the truth hidden behind the visible world.

Sometimes profusely, sometimes sparsely, he transmutes the vibrations of the material, the coexistence of order and disorder, the movement toward becoming rather than an image stuck in the present. His work is rich and enriching.

The Designer

His career started with designing new wave jewellery and watches.

In the late 60ies he created a real revolution in the watch fashion and by that gained rapidly worldwide fame and reputation.

In addition to the line sold under his own name all over Europe, USA and Japan,
worldwide famous companies such as Tiffany (USA), Elsa Perretti (USA), Lacoste (USA), Mikimoto (Japan), H Stern (Brazil).
also commissioned him for designing exclusive lines.

Modern, contemporary, innovative, "enemy of routine", Emerich Meerson demonstrated his talent in setting up trends
expanding rapidly and followed worldwide.

The international press considered it as a rare phenomenon and his creations, mainly watches but also jewellery, were featured on prime place in fashion magazines all around the world.

And most important and exceptional, owners of Emerich Mereson's designed timepieces became and still are unconditionally faithful to "their watch", considering it as the perfect match to their personality and lifestyle. Testimonies of that received by Emerich Meerson from all around the world are his best reward and encouragement for future creativity.

The Painter

Emerich Meerson, since his very young age never stopped drawing and, later, painting as if a pencil or a brush were
the natural extension of his hand and mind.

The result of that is today an extraordinary body of work. He has been exhibiting for about fifteen years, first in
private surroundings, then in individual or group shows.

Having been a watch designer has surely given him the taste for dense mechanisms, where the combined elements come together in the interior
of compact forms, resulting in the ability (or the predisposition) to compose signs of space-time.

The formats can vary; that changes nothing in this ability to accumulate miniature calligraphies which his brush applies to paper
that has been treated with India ink. The rhyhms breathe, imitating a version of nature that has been reorganised by Emerich Meerson.

This is definitely concrete "abstraction". Each vision corresponds to a response from the outside to the inside,
from the heart of man to the soul of the world. (....)

Everything here is contained in the gesture, the writing, and the silence. Curling, dancing, shapes, territories, stained glass,
a labyrinth-tree rising and extending to the surface, behind which I invite you to look
at the shivering rainbow of nights-days-water and fire."

"(....) a kind of dreamy goodliness which transforms (his) violence into meditative energy and movement....
